For Nebraska’s Micah Barnes, 174 weight class was worth the wait

Micah Barnes had to wait for the ideal weight class to open up.

Now that the wait is over, the junior is quickly making a difference in Nebraska’s starting lineup.

Barnes is 8-0 as the starter at 174 pounds, defeating nationally ranked opponents in his last two matches. Barnes, who moved up to 15th in his weight class in this week’s InterMat rankings, is expected to face two more ranked opponents Sunday during the Grapple at the Garden in New York.
