A large contingent of fans and followers were on hand to watch the St. Cloud State University wrestling team unveil its 2015 NCAA Division II championship at Halenbeck Hall on Friday, Nov. 6.
In a ceremony after the completion of competition in the annual Black/Red Classic intrasquad match, the NCAA team championship was unfurled with help from seniors Clint Poster and Jay Hildreath. The banner, which represents the first team national championship in school history in any sport, will soon be displayed in the rafters in Halenbeck Hall’s main gym.
The evening also included the debut of the banner saluting 2015 NCAA individual champion Tim Prescott, who won top honors at the DII meet in 2015 at 125-pounds. Fans were also treated to a showing of a highlight video from the 2015 NCAA championships along with comments from head coach Steve Costanzo and SCSU announcers Dennis Quinn and John O. Peterson.
