Wells Leads SJU Wrestling at Pointer Open

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Saint John’s wrestling competed at the Wisconsin-Stevens Point Open on Saturday, Nov. 7.

Senior John Wells (Janesville, Wis./Milton) led the Johnnies with a 4-3 record and a sixth-place finish at 125 pounds. Only one of his three losses on the day was to a Division III opponent, Concordia-Moorhead’s Jakob Stageberg, by a 5-4 decision in the fifth-place match.

Junior Teddy Erickson (Annandale, Minn.) posted a 3-2 record at 165 pounds and five other Johnnies recorded two wins on the day.

The Johnnies return to the road for the Luther Invitational next Saturday, Nov. 14. The tournament is scheduled for 9 a.m. in Decorah, Iowa.
