Beaman cracks top five NCAA stat leaders

INDIANAPOLIS – Garrett Beaman of the St. Olaf wrestling team currently sits at number five in the Division III NCAA standings for the 2016 NCAA Wrestling Awards that will be awarded in March.

St. Olaf OlesThe inaugural NCAA Wrestling Awards were presented at the 2012 wrestling championships. The three awards, given in each division, honor the Most Dominant Wrestler as well as the student-athletes that have accumulated the most falls and the most technical falls throughout the course of the regular and postseasons. The Most Dominant Wrestler standings are calculated by adding the total number of points awarded through match results and dividing that number by the total number of matches wrestled. Points per match are awarded as follows. A 12-match minimum is required to be eligible for the Most Dominant Award.

Beaman is ranked fifth in Division III for falls at weight class 174. He has 11 falls and a time of 20.05.

NCAA Wrestling Awards Standing

Tonight’s scheduled home meet vs. Dakota Wesleyan was CANCELLED. Beaman and the Oles will compete next at MSU-Mankato on Saturday, Jan. 23 at 1 p.m.
