For Reader, it was just the beginning.
Going 39-0 in a Cyclone singlet that year and earning All-America honors for the third time validated for Reader a dream that was born when he was a high school wrestler in Michigan: to one day stand on a podium and accept an Olympic Gold Medal on behalf of his country.
