A LOOK AT THE JOHNNIES: Seven Saint John’s (3-14 dual record) wrestlers competed at the Wisconsin-Eau Claire Open last Saturday (Feb. 6). Four of the seven participants went 1-2 on the day: junior Branden Schorr (Mantorville, Minn./Kasson-Mantorville) at 149 pounds; freshman Jack Barsody (Onamia, Minn./Milaca) at 165 pounds; and juniors Colin Fisher (Eagan, Minn.) and Bryan Scepaniak (Avon, Minn./Holdingford) at heavyweight.
LATEST RANKINGS: Senior Ben Henle (Spicer, Minn./New London-Spicer) fell one spot to No. 8 at 141 pounds in the latest National Wrestling Coaches’ Association (NWCA) rankings released Feb. 9. He is still listed as a “contender,” just outside the top 10 by D3wrestle.com (Feb. 10). Senior John Wells (125; Janesville, Wis./Milton), junior Teddy Erickson (165; Annandale, Minn.) and junior Colin Fisher (285; Eagan, Minn.) are honorable mention (D3wrestle.com).

A LOOK AT THE JIMMIES: Jamestown (3-11 dual record) enters its Senior Night dual Saturday riding a nine-dual losing streak. The Jimmies’ streak included losses to Concordia-Moorhead (52-0) and Mary (47-0), and most recently a 29-20 defeat to Dickinson State (N.D.) Feb. 2. Jamestown won four of the seven contested matches, but forfeits at 141, 197, and 285 cost 18 points.
A LOOK AT THE MARAUDERS: Mary (5-11 dual record) enters this weekend’s matchup having lost their last three duals, all of which were conference (NSIC) matchups. No. 2 St. Cloud State handed the Maruaders a 42-3 loss in their most recent dual on Jan. 30. Mary’s only points were recorded by redshirt freshman Jakob Weisbrod with a 7-1 sudden victory at 149 pounds. SCSU defeated SJU in similar fashion earlier this season on a night when the Johnnies’ Ben Henle scored their only points via sudden victory at 141 pounds.
