Amo advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA National Championship

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.- Augustana University sophomore Aero Amo (184 pounds) won his first match of the day at the NCAA Division II National Championships at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center by a 3-2 decision over Brandon O’Neill of Ashland University.

Augustana VikingsThe two were in a deadlocked at zero after the first period. Amo chose down and scored an escape to gain the 1-0 lead early on in the second period. O’Neil scored a takedown in the middle of the period to get the 2-1 lead. Amo escaped to tie the match at two after the second period.

Amo rode O’Neill the entire third period to gain the riding time point and secure the 3-2 decision victory.

Amo’s next opponent will be Jon Inman (36-2) from Fort Hays State in the quarterfinals of the 184-pound bracket. The second session will begin at 6 p.m.
