Augustana adds NJCAA runner-up

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana wrestling head coach Jason Reitmeier announced the signing of Oscar Ramirez Jr. to continue his academic and athletic career at Augustana University. Including Ramirez, the signing class for this year has reached 12 student-athletes.

Augustana VikingsBefore Augustana: Wrestled at Iowa Western Community College … Was a two-time All-American … runner-up at the NJCAA National Championship at 149-pounds his freshman year … finished seventh at the NJCAA National Championship his sophomore year at 149-pounds …tied for fourth for most wins in school history with 33 …  finished first at the Millikin Open on Nov. 14, 2015 …   named second team academic all-region his freshman year

High School: Wrestled at Estherville Lincoln Central High School … four-year starter and letter winner …  went 47-2 his senior year and was a state runner-up … took home fourth in state his junior year … finished in sixth at the state tournament his sophomore year … was a state qualifier his freshman year

Personal: Born on January 4, 1995, in Honduras … parents to Oscar Ramirez Sr. and Iris Hernandez … has two siblings Glenis and Andy … plan to major in education with a minor in Spanish at Augustana
