Saint John’s adds 13 for next year’s freshmen class

Saint John’s has announced 13 wrestlers who have committed to the program as part of their incoming freshmen class. “We have a great group of student-athletes who have proven their worth on the mat and in the classroom,” said Saint John’s Coach Tony Willaert. “This will be the expectation as they continue their careers as Johnnies.”

125 Anthony Hennen (Norwood Young America) – 2015 State Qualifier, Minnesota River All-Conference Honorable Mention, 78 career wins

125 Graham Evavold (Minneapolis Southwest) – 2016 State Qualifier, 94-35 career record

125/133 Noah Becker (Browerville/LPGE) – 2-time State Placer (4th, 3rd), 3-time State Qualifier, 107-15

133 Andrew Smith (Amery, WI) – 2016 State Placer (5th), 4-time State Qualifier, 122-43 career record

141 Bailey Vanderpool (Omaha, NE) – 2-time State Champion, 3-time State Placer (1st, 2nd, DNQ, 1st), 3X State Qualifier

141/149 Jake Fernholz (Sartell) – Central Lakes All-Conference, 105 career wins, 75 career pins

157 Jerod Novak (Aitkin) – 2-time State Placer (DNP, DNQ, 6th, DNP, DNP, 2nd), 5-time State Qualifier, 5-time Great River Conference Champion, 174-40 career record

157 Colin Tate (Edina) – 20 wins as a senior

165 Brady Mehr (Kimball) – 3-time State Qualifier, 4-time CMC All-Conference, 118-51 career record

165 Dan Gainer (Cretin Durham-Hall) – Suburban East All-Conference Honorable Mention, 23 wins as a senior (12 were pins)

197 Daniel Davitt (Anoka) – 26-6 senior year record

285 Quincy Spiering (St. Thomas Academy) – 2016 State Qualifier, Metro East All-Conference, two-time All-Conference Honorable Mention, 83-39 career record with 52 pins
