Dragon Wrestling Announces Addition of 12 Recruits for 2016-17

MOORHEAD, Minn. — Minnesota State University Moorhead wrestling coach Kris Nelson has announced the Dragons’ 2016-17 recruiting class. A total of 12 individuals will join the Dragons this fall.

“We are excited to add these individuals to the Dragon wrestling program,” Nelson said. “We addressed our need to add depth at the upper weights and felt that we accomplished that task.  We look forward to having these student-athletes start school in the fall and competing for the Dragons. We still feel we have some more individuals to add to this class before our recruiting class for this year is complete.  Thank you to the assistant coaches at MSUM wrestling for all their help in the recruitment of these individuals.”

The additions for MSUM wrestling include (number is projected weight class):

Two-time state qualifier…finished 40-3 with 28 pins as a senior and placed fifth at the state meet…Brute National Champ at 285 and All-American…Minnesota State Junior Greco and Freestyle State Champion at 285 in 2016. 2015 and 2016 MN Storm Junior Dual team member…two-time team captain…two-time all-conference.

Seth Hutchison (133, Soldotna, Alaska/Soldotna HS)
Four-time Alaska state champion…finished 43-2 as a senior on his way to the state title…2016 Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award State Winner…one of eight wrestlers to be four-time state champions in Alaska.

Nick Kaml (149, Greenbush, Minn./Greenbush-Middle River HS)
Two-time state entrant…finished third at Class A state tournament in 2016…won Section 8A title….finished with 118-42 career record…had a 40-6 record as a senior…three-time all-conference selection.

Anthony Kern (133/141, Bertha, Minn/Bertha-Hewitt HS)
Three-time state participant…placed sixth in the state in 2013-14…96-20 career record…two-time section champion.

Mitch Kotschevar (174, Paynesville, Minn./Albany HS)
2016 state meet qualifier…won Section 6AA title…finished with a 39-5 senior record, second most single-season wins at Albany HS…finished with career record of 78-51…team captain and all-conference senior year…had 32 pins over final two seasons of prep career.

Dylan Kuchera (165, Fargo, N.D./North HS)
State qualifier…team captain senior year..conference place winner…two-year letterwinner…competed for the Fargo Elite wrestling club for two years.

Three-time state champion…finished with career record of 222-24 with 188 pins…five-time first-team all-conference selection and five-time conference champion…three-time junior national All-American…junior Greco national champ.

Jordan Magnuson (285, Valley City, N.D./Valley City HS)
2016 North Dakota Class A state champion at 220 pounds…finished with 50-1 record as a senior…finished with 173 career wins, a school record…EDC Athlete of the Year in 2016…runner-up for Mr. Wrestler at 2016.

Trent Milless (141, Zimmerman, Minn./Zimmerman HS)
Two-time state participant…place fifth at state tournament…two-time section champion…career record of 110-50…two-year captain…2015-16 Elk River tournament champion…three-time all-conference selection.

Tyler Patron (197, New York Mills, Minn./New York Mills HS)
Two-time state entrant…placed third at 195 pounds in 2013 and fourth in 2014…three-time Park Region Conference Champion…three-time Big Bear place winner…finished with a high school record of 126-48.

Aaron Sistrunk (133, Center City, Minn./Chisago Lakes HS)
Two-time individual state participant…finished with 122 career wins…team captain…four-year letterwinner in wrestling…competed for the Pinnacle Wrestling Club.

Jaxon Seufzer (197, Juneau, Wis./Dodgeland HS)

Wisconsin Division 3 state champion at 195 pounds in 2016…finished 45-2 as a senior…was 41-7 and was the Division 3 195-pound runner-up in 2015…finished with career record of 145-27…two-time state qualifier.
