Ohio, Minnesota top Junior Freestyle Duals All-Tournament Team; 12 make team in both styles

TULSA, Okla. – The All-Tournament Team in freestyle has been announced from the Junior National Duals, a dual meet competition featuring high school wrestlers representing state association teams.

An athlete must go undefeated in a minimum number of matches in that specific style to earn All-Tournament Team honors.

In freestyle, there were 44 athletes on the All-Tournament Team, representing 21 different states. Ohio, which won the championship this year, and Minnesota had the most All-Tournament Team members with five. Indiana had four on the All-Tournament Team, and Michigan, Arizona, Georgia and New Jersey had three members of the team.

Of the athletes on the All-Tournament Team in freestyle, the best records were held by Elijah Varona of Florida at 106 pounds, Malik Johnson of Missouri at 113 pound and Jesse Shearer of North Dakota at 182 pounds, all who had 9-0 records in the competition. Continue reading at www.teamusa.org
