Jake Allar of St. Michael-Albertville has committed to wrestling for Iowa State following his upcoming senior season. He is a four-time state placer and a 2016 state champion.
He won the 152-pound Class AA state championship this past season as a junior. Allar was runner-up at 138 pounds as a sophomore. He placed third in Class AA at 113 pounds as a freshman wrestling for Benilde-Saint Margaret’s and was fourth as an eighth-grader. He has a 202-25 high school record and is the No. 28 overall wrestler in the Class of 2017 according to InterMat.
Allar has had great success in freestyle and Greco-Roman competition. He was a 2016 Junior national freestyle champion in Fargo at 160 pounds this past July. Allar also represented the United States at the 2015 Cadet World Championships in Greco-Roman.
Allar is projected to wrestle at 165 pounds for the Cyclones.
