Amo Preseason No. 1 at 184 in preseason rankings; Augustana ranks 16th in team rankings

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Junior Aero Amo starts off the 2016-17 wrestling season as the top-ranked wrestler at 184 pounds in’s Preseason National Rankings that were released Friday. The Augustana wrestling team enters the season ranked 16th in the team rankings.

Amo finished his sophomore campaign 33-3 and won the Super Region 3 Championship in Sioux Falls last season. Amo was the only Viking grappler to qualify for Nationals and went 1-2. Amo enters the season as the only Viking ranked in an individual weight class.

Fellow NSIC member, St. Cloud State enters the 2016-17 season as No. 1 in the team rankings. Maryville, Pitt-Johnstown, Mercyhurst and Upper Iowa round out the top-five.

Augustana will open the regular season by competing in the Daktronics Open in Brookings, S.D. on Sunday, November 6 at 9 a.m.
