Four Bison Earn Victories, but NDSU Wrestling Falls to No. 17 Oklahoma

NORMAN, Okla. — North Dakota State wrestling recorded four individual victories but suffered a 25-14 loss to 17th-ranked Oklahoma in a Big 12 Conference wrestling dual Sunday, Nov. 20, inside McCasland Field House in Norman, Oklahoma.

With the setback, the Bison fall to 1-1 overall and 1-1 in Big 12 Conference action, while the Sooners improve to 1-1 on the season and 1-0 in conference action.

ndsulogo Fifth-ranked 125-pounder Josh Rodriguez tallied the first win of the dual for the Bison. The Guadalupe, Calif., native rolled to a 23-7 tech fall victory over Oklahoma’s Dalton Duffield, recording the tech fall six minutes and 35 seconds into the match. With the win, Rodriguez improved to a perfect 5-0 overall and 2-0 in dual action.

Clay Ream, ranked 12th at 157 pounds, earned a 9-2 decision over the Sooners’ DaWaylon Barnes, who is also ranked 12th and came into the match undefeated. Ream moved his season record to a flawless 5-0 and improved to 2-0 in dual competition.

Redshirt freshman 174-pounder Carter Nielsen earned NDSU’s third victory of the dual, defeating OU’s Hayden Hansen via a 7-2 decision, to improve to 1-1 on the season and 1-1 in dual action.

Redshirt sophomore 184-pounder Tyler McNutt tallied the Bison’s fourth and final win against Oklahoma with an 8-5 decision over Andrew Dixon. With the triumph, McNutt improved to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in dual competition.

North Dakota State is scheduled to travel to Evanston, Ill., to take on Northwestern in a non-conference dual Friday, Dec. 2, at 7 p.m.
