SMSU wrestling finishes busy day at the Augsburg Open

MINNEAPOLIS – The Southwest Minnesota State wrestling team competed today at the Auggie-Addidas Open hosted by Augsburg College.

Adam Knutson, wrestling unattached, placed third at 157 pounds in the Bronze Division, earning a sudden-victory in the third place match to finish the day 2-1.

Cameron Henning finished 2-2 in the Gold Division to finish in sixth place.

smsulogoJackson Ryan dropped his opening match, but rebounded to win two straight to capture fifth place in the Gold Division at 197 pounds.

Jordan Biehn won his opening match at 141 in the Silver Division and went on to place sixth with a 2-2 record. Taylor Curtis also placed sixth at 125 in the Gold Division, winning his first match before closing with a 2-2 record. Jake Slocum finished 1-2 to take home sixth place at 157 in the Gold Division.

Cody Heitman dropped his first match in the Bronze Division at 165, but reeled off three straight wins to capture the consolation title. Cole Hennen also recorded a consolation title at 184 in the Gold Division, winning three straight matches following a first round loss.

Ben Thompson (unattached) also took home consolation honors at 197 in the Silver Division with a 3-1 record.

Auggie-Adidas Open Results

Southwest Minnesota State returns to action for its first dual match of the season on Thursday, Dec. 1, hosting two-time defending NCAA champion St. Cloud State.
