In the latest foray into the Coach’s Corner, Minnesota Head Coach Brandon Eggum walks through many of the matches from last Sunday’s dual, some of the team’s strategic decisions against the nation’s top-ranked team, and looks ahead to a pair of tournaments this weekend.
In reviewing the results of last Sunday’s dual against No. 1 Oklahoma State, Eggum discusses some of the performances where he saw the most improvements from younger Gopher wrestlers. He also details the decision to draw for starting weight in that dual and lineup choices the coaches made.
As shared by Eggum, the Gophers primary squad will travel to Las Vegas to compete in the Cliff Keen Invitational on Friday and Saturday. Nine teams in that field – including No. 18 Minnesota – are ranked in the NWCA’s top 20. In addition, five attached and a dozen unattached competitors will make the trip from the Gopher wrestling room to Cedar Falls to compete in the UNI Open on Saturday.
