Vikings Set to Host Augustana Duals on Saturday

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana wrestling will host the Augustana Duals on Saturday, Dec. 10 with wrestling starting at 10 a.m. in the Elmen Center.

Teams competing in the Augustana Duals include: Augustana, Southwest Minnesota State, Truman State, Nebraska-Kearney, Morningside and Northwestern (Iowa). The Vikings will dual against each team except for Southwest Minnesota State.

stanalogoAugustana will start the Duals off with Truman State at 10 a.m., then will take on Northwestern (Iowa) and 11:30 a.m. The Vikings will begin the afternoon off with Morningside at 1 p.m. and conclude the day with Nebraska-Kearney at 2:30 p.m.

Last weekend, the Vikings opened up the dual portion of their schedule at the South Dakota Showcase and went 2-1. Augustana defeated Dakota Wesleyan (56-0) and Northern State (19-18) before falling to South Dakota State (37-6).

Michael Lowman and Aero Amo each went undefeated at the South Dakota Showcase. Lowman, wrestling at 285, went 2-0 and Amo went 3-0 at 184.

Morningside
Morningside comes into the Augustana Duals with a 1-0 dual record. The Mustangs edged Hastings, 19-18, in their lone dual on the season. The Mustangs are led by Kyle Fowler. Fowler at 157 pounds has recorded 15 wins with two falls and major decisions.

Nebraska-Kearney
Nebraska-Kearney enters the Augustana Duals with a 0-2 dual record. The Lopers have dropped their two duals to Division I opponents. The Lopers are led by Jonathan Killingsworth, Vlad Kazakov and Wesley Dawkins. Killingsworth has 14 wins with one fall and tech fall and three major decisions. Kazakov has 13 wins with six pins and one major decision. Dawkins has 13 wins with four falls, two tech falls and major decisions.

Northwestern (Iowa)
Northwestern enters the Augustana Duals with a 1-0 dual record. The Red Raiders defeated Briar Cliff, 22-19, in their only dual on the season. The Red Raiders are led by freshman Dante Preciado. Preciado at 141 pounds has accumulated 13 wins with one fall and tech fall and three major decisions.

Truman State
Truman State comes into the Augustana Duals with a 4-1 dual record. The Bulldogs have won their last four duals after dropping their season opening dual to Upper Iowa. The Bulldogs are led by sophomore Caleb Osborn. Osborn is 5-0 at 133 pounds with three pins.

Next weekend the Vikings travel to Indianapolis, Ind. for the Midwest Classic on Dec. 17-18. The opponents and times for Augustana’s matches are TBA.
