North Dakota State opens the New Year on the mat with a pair of home duals this weekend in the Scheels Center at the Sanford Health Athletic Complex … NDSU (6-1, 1-1 #Big12WR) is scheduled to host Northern Colorado (0-2, 0-1 #Big12WR) in a Big 12 Conference dual at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6 … Friday is “Junior Bison Night” … This will be the 41st meeting between UNC and the Bison … NDSU holds a 34-5-1 advantage in the series including a 29-13 win last season in Greeley … North Dakota State is scheduled to host Boise State (1-1, 0-0 Pac 12) in a non-conference dual at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8 … This will be the ninth meeting between Boise State and NDSU … The Broncos won 19-18 last season in Boise, but the Bison hold a 5-3 edge in the series … BEK Broadcasting Network will televise both duals with Jordan Hassler on the call … BEK is available on cable systems, DirecTV and DISH in Eastern and Western North Dakota (locations can be found here www.bektel.com/bbn/) … Both matches will be streamed live on GoBison.com …. Bison in the Rankings
North Dakota State received votes toward the USA Today/National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Top 25 Poll for the fifth time in six weeks on Dec. 20. NDSU was 25th in the InterMat.com Tournament Rankings on Jan. 4. The Bison were 21st in the Track Wrestling rankings and tied for 21st in WIN Wrestling Magazine’s Tournament Power Index.

In this week’s Stat Corner powered by WrestleStat and published by The Open Mat, North Dakota State ranked No. 7 among the top 20 bonus point scoring teams in Division I … NDSU has 69 bonus points in 99 matches … The Bison are behind Penn State, Iowa, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Northern Iowa and Illinois … Rankings were based on tournament bonus points, one for a major, one and a half for a tech, two for pins, forfeits, disqualifications, per match.

Fogarty Places Eighth at #Midlands54 Championships
North Dakota State 165-pounder Andrew Fogarty placed eighth at the 54th annual Midlands Championships on Dec. 29-30 at Northwestern University’s McGaw Hall … Fogarty, a redshirt freshman from Jordan, Minn. (Scott West H.S.) compiled a 5-3 record with a pair major decisions and a pin at the Midlands Championships … He is now 15-4 on the season … Unattached Paul Bianchi, a 125-pound freshman from Two Rivers, Wis. (Two Rivers H.S.), advanced to the second day at #Midlands54 … Overall, Bianchi won 3 of 5 matches at the Midlands and improved to 14-5 overall.
