The Mustangs have three wresters returning to the Super Region III tournament. Cortez Arredondo and Kegen Fingalsen will return for their second regional appearances while Taylor Curtis will make his third consecutive appearance. Arredondo finished 1-2, Fingalsen went 2-2, and Curtis finished 3-3 in last year’s Super Region III tournament.

SMSU tallied up 39.5 team points which was good enough for a seventh place finish in last year’s region tournament while Cole Wilson was the lone Mustang to qualify for nationals.

Last time out:
Southwest Minnesota State defeated Concordia College, 19-15 in its final dual match of the season last Thursday night in the Memorial Auditorium in Moorhead, Minn.

The Mustangs dropped the first bout of the night but were helped out by a forfeit from Concordia College at 133. Zach Beaumaster and Cortez Arredondo won back to back bouts for SMSU as it raced out to a 12-3 advantage.

Following a 7-1 decision for Concordia College, SMSU came back with a 13-3 major decision from Jake Slocum at 165. The Cobbers would earn six match points from a pair of decisions at 174 and 184 respectively, but Jackson Ryan’s 3-2 decision at 197 would prove to be enough for SMSU to close out its regular season with a win.
