Gable Steveson of Apple Valley has committed to wrestling for Minnesota following his senior season. He is currently a junior.
Steveson announced his decision live on Flowrestling.org this afternoon.
Steveson is a four-time state finalist. He won the Class AAA heavyweight title this year as a junior. Steveson won 220-pound titles as a sophomore and as a freshman. As an eighth-grader Steveson was runner-up at 195 pounds.
Steveson is the top-ranked high school heavyweight in the nation and the #1 high school junior recruit in the nation. In addition to being a three-time state champion, he is a two-time UWW Freestyle Cadet World Champion, winning titles in 2015 and 2016.
Gable’s brother Bobby is a redshirt freshman wrestling at 184 pounds for Minnesota.
Steveson will wrestle at 285 pounds for the Gophers.
