The Minnesota Wrestling Coaches Association annually presents the Mr. Minnesota High School Wrestler award to the senior that best exemplifies the highest ideals of high school wrestling in Minnesota. Judging is based on past performances, citizenship, academics, leadership, and adherence to MSHSL rules. This year the committee is proud to recognize Kasson-Mantorville’s four-time state champion, and nationally number-one-ranked wrestler at 160 pounds, Brady Berge.
Berge won his first state title as a 7th grader and then finished third as an 8th grader. The Komet wrestler then went on one of the most dominating runs in MN wrestling history, with state titles as a Freshman, Sophomore, and Senior. He looked to be on his way to a state title as a Junior as well, but a broken leg in the state semifinals forced Berge to injury default to 6th place.
Berge is also a National Honor Society member as well as a volunteer with the American Legion. He will be joining Minnesota’s 2016 Mr. Wrestler, Mark Hall, at Penn State University to continue his wrestling career with the top-ranked college program in the country.
