From goapplevalleyeagles.com — Apple Valley High School (MN) is proud to announce that Joshua Barlage has been named the Head Varsity Wrestling Coach at Apple Valley High School (MN).
Josh Barlage has served as a Varsity Assistant Wrestling Coach since 2007. Prior to joining Apple Valley, Coach Barlage spent three seasons as Assistant Varsity Wrestling Coach at Lakeville North. He received his undergraduate degree from Augsburg College and a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Minnesota State University – Mankato. Josh was two-time Minnesota State Wrestling Tournament entrant and member of three National Championship Wrestling Teams at Augsburg College. He was a four- time member of the Academic Club, four-time letter winner and also winner of the Auggie Award in 2003.

Coach Barlage has been a vital member of the Apple Valley Wrestling Coaching Staff that has won 10 State Championships, 45 Individual State Champions and 113 State Qualifiers. Coach Barlage was selected as the 2017 Section 3AAA Assistant Coach of the Year.
Barlage is currently a Special Education Teacher at Apple Valley High School. Coach Barlage’s tenure will be focused on the following goals for the Apple Valley Varsity Wrestling Team: Athletes who love the sport, have self-confidence, discipline and a strong will to succeed. Those values continue to be foundational to the championship tradition at Apple Valley.
Coach Barlage will take over the Wrestling Program after the retirement of Dalen Wasmund. Coach Wasmund served Apple Valley as a Head Coach and Assistant Coach for close to two decades. Apple Valley won its 12th straight Wrestling Team State Championship this year.
