South Dakota State University’s Seth Gross has been tabbed as the top wrestler in the preseason NCAA Division I 133-pound rankings conducted by Flowrestling, which were announced Tuesday.
Gross’ top ranking comes on the heels of a runner-up finish at the 2017 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships. The Apple Valley, Minnesota, native compiled a 34-2 record during the 2016-17 season and enters his junior year with a 60-16 career mark. Gross is a two-time national qualifier, making his first NCAA appearance in 2016 in the 141-pound division.
Michigan sophomore Stevan Micic is ranked second, while Oklahoma State sophomore Kaid Brock is third in the rankings. Gross defeated Brock three times during the 2016-17, including a 12-3 major decision in the NCAA semifinals.
