Augustana Gets 2017-18 Season Underway with First Practice

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana wrestling team has begun practice for the 2017-18 season and will be looking to build off of last season’s success.

Head coach Jason Reitmeier enters his 15th season as the leader for the Vikings. Last season, Reitmeier became Augustana’s all-time winningest coach and owns a dual record of 165-76.

stanalogo Reitmeier welcomes 29 wrestlers for this season, including two returning national qualifiers in senior Aero Amo and sophomore Brandon Carroll. Amo went 38-9 at 184 pounds last season and earned All-American honors and Carroll went 20-13 and was named the Super Region 3 Freshman of the Year.

The Vikings return 20 letterwinners from last season’s 12-7 (6-2 NSIC) squad. Augustana’s roster is composed of six seniors, three juniors, five sophomores, seven redshirt freshmen and eight true freshmen.

Augustana begins its season on Nov. 5 at the Daktronics Open in Brookings, S.D. beginning at 9 a.m.
