Augustana Looks to Build onto the Early Season at the DWU Open

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana wrestling team travels to Mitchell, S.D. its second meet of the season as the Dakota Wesleyan Open on Saturday, Nov. 11 beginning at 9 a.m. – Brackets/Results on TrackWrestling.com

The DWU Open will have 29 teams competing from Division I, II, NAIA and Juco Colleges. Teams competing include South Dakota State, St. Cloud State, SMSU, Northern State and more.

Last weekend, the Vikings competed at the Daktronics Open in Brookings, S.D. and had five individual placers. Clayton Wahlstrom led the way placing third at 197 pounds and Colin Ayers finished in fourth at 141. Bailey Neises, Lukas Poloncic and Austin Ward all took sixth.

Augustana also had freshmen and redshirt freshmen competed at the Yellowjacket Open in Rochester, Minn. Ben Kelvington and Keaten Schorr (unattached) each finished in first, while Brayden Curry (unattached) took second.

The Vikings will have a layoff until Dec. 3 when they will have a trio of duals at the South Dakota Showcase in Spearfish, S.D. Augustana will wrestle against Dakota Wesleyan, Northern State and South Dakota State.
