NDSU Opens Dual Season at #8 Iowa, #13 Northern Iowa This Weekend

North Dakota State will open the dual schedule at No. 8-ranked Iowa at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, in Carver-Hawkeye Arena (15,077) at Iowa City … Match will streamed live on BTN Plus and FloWrestling … NDSU will take on No. 13-ranked Northern Iowa at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, in historic West Gym (2,100) at Cedar Falls … The match will be streamed live on FloWrestling.

North Dakota State and Iowa have met once before … The Hawkeyes defeated NDSU 33-7 before a sellout crowd of over 7,000 at the Bison Sports Arena on Nov. 22, 1992 … This will be the  25th meeting between North Dakota State and Northern Iowa … UNI leads the series 20-3-1 … NDSU defeated the Panthers 22-15 in Fargo on Feb. 13, 2016, winning for the first time since 1976-77.

NDSU Receives Votes Toward Top 25
North Dakota State received 3 points toward the USA Today/NWCA Division I Wrestling Coaches poll released Nov. 14 … The Bison are one of five Big 12 Conference teams in the rankings including No. 3 Oklahoma State, No. 13 Northern Iowa, No. 16 South Dakota State, No. 20 Oklahoma … Nine opponents on NDSU schedule are ranked in top 25 … The Bison are tied for 36th in the TrackWrestling/Resilite rankings … North Dakota State was tied for 38th in the WIN Magazine Tournament Power Index.

Six Newcomers Sign With NDSU
North Dakota State head wrestling coach Roger Kish announced on Nov.  Chase Bittle, Belleville, Ill. (Althoff Catholic H.S.); Austin Brenner, St. Cloud, Minn. (St. Cloud Tech); Noah Cressell, Wabash, Ind. (Wabash H.S.); Dylan Droegemueller, Champlin, Minn. (Anoka H.S.); Jared Franek, West Fargo, N.D. (West Fargo H.S.) and Jimmy Noel, St. Louis, Mo. (Pulaski Academy, Little Rock, Ark.) have all signed National Letters of Intent to attend NDSU and wrestle beginning in the fall of 2018.

Fogarty, Eaton Each Claim Third Bison Open Titles
North Dakota State University 165-pounder Andrew Fogarty and 197 Cordell Eaton each won their third title, while 157-pounder Clay Ream claimed his second at the 47th annual Bison Open on Nov. 11 before 647 spectators at Scheels Center in the Sanford Health Complex … NDSU notched a champion for the 11th straight season … First-time Bison Open champions were 141 Sam Hampton and heavyweight Dan Stibral.

NDSU 165 Fogarty, 285 Metz Third at Warren Williamson/Daktronics Open
North Dakota State 165-pounder Andrew Fogarty and unattached 285 Brandon Metz each placed third to highlight the NDSU effort on Nov. 5, at the Warren Williamson/Daktronics Open hosted by South Dakota State … Four of the 13 NDSU wrestlers competing placed in the top five overall. Joining Fogarty and Metz were unattached 133-pounder Sawyer Degen, who placed fourth, and unattached 174 Jesse Shearer, who finished fifth.
