Simley wrestler Daniel Kerkvliet manhandling the competition

Simley High School wrestler Daniel Kerkvliet could not get open, so he took matters into his own hands.


Playing a relay game of speedball with fellow Spartans wrestlers before practice on Dec. 20, Kerkvliet picked up the guy covering him and placed him out of the way so that Kerkvliet could easily catch a pass. This young wrestler barely came up to Kerkvliet’s shoulder and had legs about the size of Kerkvliet’s arms.

Kerkvliet, a junior who turns 17 in February, stands above 6 feet and weighs 211 pounds, most of which is pure muscle, and he knows how to handle himself on the mat, even if it’s just during a game of speedball. Continue reading at
