St. Cloud State’s Kolton Eischens named NSIC Wrester of the Week

St. Cloud State University’s Kolton Eischens (Pierz, Minn./Healy H.S.) has been selected as the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Wrestler of the Week for Jan. 7-13.

The nation’s #7 ranked NCAA Division II wrestler at 174-pounds, Eischens improved to 23-2 on the season with a pair of victories for the #1 ranked St. Cloud State Huskies at the UW-Parkside Range Duals on Jan. 13 in Kenosha, Wisc.

scsulogoEischens opened the day with a big 15-0 tech fall win over No. 4 ranked Nick Foster of McKendree (a returning All-American for #5 ranked McKendree). The victory helped SCSU gain a 29-9 win over McKendree

To cap the day, Eischens charted a 9-4 win over Natean Vandemeer of Findlay. The Huskies went on to win the match over No. 16 Findlay by a score of 38-7

SCSU currently owns a perfect 12-0 overall record this season and the Huskies are 1-0 in the always rugged NSIC. The Huskies will continue their season on Jan. 19 with a dual match at Minot State and a Jan. 20 dual at the University of Mary.

The Huskies are the six-time defending NSIC champions and won the 2017 NCAA Division II Super III Regional tournament. SCSU placed second at the 2017 NCAA Division II championships and the Huskies won the NCAA DII championship 2015 and 2016.
