Chase O’Connor could have played it safe. He could have gone the conventional route.
But that wouldn’t have been the O’Connor way.
This a guy who loves a challenge. It didn’t bother him that he’d never been a state champion, or been on everybody’s recruiting list while wrestling at Kasson-Mantorville.
“I’d gone around and looked at some smaller (colleges),” O’Connor said. “I’d rolled around the mat with some of those guys on my visits, and I felt like I was as good as them or maybe even better. Plus, I knew my ability would keep growing.”
