IRVING, Texas – North Dakota State University placed nine student-athletes on the 2018 Academic All-Big 12 Wrestling team announced Wednesday, Feb. 28, by the conference office. There were 88 selections overall.
Sixty-three wrestlers make up the first team including North Dakota State repeat selections, 149-pound redshirt senior Kyle Gliva (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.), 157-pound redshirt senior Clay Ream (Wentzville, Mo.) and 197-pound redshirt sophomore Cordell Eaton (Long Grove, Iowa). Ream is a three-time selection, while Eaton (2017) and Gliva (2016) both make their second appearance.
Rounding out NDSU’s first team picks are 125-pound redshirt freshman Paul Bianchi (Two Rivers, Wis.), 174-pound redshirt junior Dylan Urbach (Lisbon, N.D.), and 285-pound redshirt sophomore Dan Stibral (Tabor, S.D.).
Named to the second team were 174/184-pound redshirt freshman Nick Knutson (New Prague, Minn.), 184-pound redshirt junior Tyler McNutt (Saint Joseph, Minn.), and 184-pound redshirt freshman Cole Witzig (Troy, Ill.). McNutt is a three-time selection.
Gliva, Ream, Eaton, Bianchi, Urbach and Stibral are scheduled to wrestle at the Big 12 Championships on March 3-4 at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Okla.
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
