Upper Iowa 22 Augustana 15

FAYETTE, Iowa – The Augustana wrestling team (11-3, 6-1 NSIC) dropped its first NSIC dual of the season in Fayette, Iowa on Sunday afternoon to No. 6 Upper Iowa (10-4, 5-2 NSIC).

Upper Iowa earned two wins in the first two matches and the Vikings could never fully recover in the dual. The Vikings and Peacocks dual came down to heavyweight for the second consecutive season, but Upper Iowa prevailed in the match and the dual.

Augustana got on the board at 141 pounds when freshman Keaten Schorr scored an 8-2 decision over Hunter Slifka. Schorr improved to 18-4 on the season and 5-1 in NSIC duals.

stanalogoThe Vikings got a big boost at 165 pounds when Regan Bye scored a pin in the third period of a back-and-forth match against Tucker Black. Bye remained unbeaten in NSIC duals with a record of 6-0 and 16-9 overall.

Aero Amo took care of business at 184 pounds with a 3-2 decision over Dalton Hahn. Amo, like Bye, remained unbeaten in NSIC duals with a record of 7-0 and 9-2 overall.

Clayton Wahlstrom earned the last win of the afternoon for the Vikings with a 7-4 decision over Jamie Gehling. Wahlstrom improved to 22-9 with a NSIC dual record of 5-1.

Augustana wraps up the 2017-18 dual schedule with a battle against No. 1 St. Cloud State on Thursday, Feb. 15 at 7 p.m. in St. Cloud, Minn.
