NCAA Brackets Revealed for Four NDSU Wrestlers, 157 Clay Ream No. 11 Seed

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The NCAA Division I Wrestling Championship brackets were revealed Wednesday, March 7, for North Dakota State University 125-pound Paul Bianchi, 133-pound Cam Sykora, 157-pound Clay Ream and 165-pound Andrew Fogarty.

The NCAA tournament is scheduled for Thursday, March 15 through Saturday, March 17, at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.

Ream, a redshirt senior from Wentzville, Mo. (Holt H.S.) is making his fourth straight trip to the NCAA Championships. He placed second at 157 pounds at the recent Big 12 Championships for the second straight season to earn an automatic qualifying spot.

ndsulogoSeeded No. 11 this season, Ream (23-4) is scheduled to open against Stanford’s Paul Fox (20-7) for the second straight year at the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships. Ream is a two-time NCAA Elite 90 Award winner and has been nominated again this season. Ream has a 3-6 record at the national tournament in three previous appearances.

Fogarty (29-10) is making his second straight trip and is scheduled to face Arizona State No. 15-seed Anthony Valencia (25-8) at the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships. Fogarty defeated Valencia earlier in the season.

Fogarty, a redshirt sophomore from Jordan, Minn. (Scott West H.S.) and was runner-up at 165-pounds at the Big 12 Championships to receive an automatic bid. Fogarty compiled a 1-2 record last season at the NCAA tournament.

Sykora (22-10) is also making his second consecutive appearance and is scheduled to square off with Ohio University’s Cameron Kelly (25-6) in a pig-tale match at the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships. The winner faces Lehigh No. 6-seed Scott Parker (18-3) of Lehigh.

Sykora, a redshirt sophomore from Wheaton, Minn. (Wheaton H.S.) went 4-2 at the Big 12 Championships to claim fifth place and earn an automatic qualifying spot. He compiled a 1-2 record at the 2017 NCAA tournament.

Bianchi (24-13) makes his first trip to the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships and is scheduled to open with Virginia No. 12-seed Louie Hayes (29-6). Bianchi, a redshirt freshman from Two Rivers, Wis. (Two Rivers H.S.), went 2-2 at the Big 12 Championships to place seventh and earn an automatic qualifying spot.
