Northland Wrestling to host Big Cat Youth Open Saturday

The Big Cat Open is moving to a new location. After being held at Lincoln High School for most of the previous 25 years, the event is moving to Northland Community & Technical College for year 26.

The 26th Annual Big Cat Open will be held Saturday, March 17 in the Northland Gym. The event is open to all youth wrestlers in pre-K through grade six. Wrestlers will compete in four-man brackets, with trophies awarded to the top-four finishers in each bracket.

“This tournament will be run almost exactly as it has for the previous 25 years – just at a different venue,” said Northland Head Wrestling Coach Scott DCamp. “We are keeping everything else the same from the entry fee and cost of admission to the big trophies that the Big Cat Open has been known for over the years.”

Weigh-ins will be held from 8-9 a.m. and wrestling begins at 9:30 a.m.

The tournament entry fee is $10 per wrestler. Admission is $5 for parents and free for children ages 12 and under. Contact Coach DCamp at 218-689-1014 with any questions.
