MANHEIM, Pa. – Six Augustana wrestling student-athletes earned All-Academic honors the NWCA announced on Monday.
Aero Amo (Rapid City, S.D.), Daniel Bishop (Sioux City, Iowa), Regan Bye (Vermillion, S.D.), Ben Kelvington (Jordan, Minn.), Bailey Neises (Howard, S.D.) and Oscar Ramirez Jr. (Estherville, Iowa) were named to this year’s NWCA All-Academic team.
With more than 300 individuals and 51 teams represented, it was the largest collective group of Division II athletes and teams ever named to the team.
Amo was one of five student-athletes how earned All-Academic honors for the fourth time in their career, joining Nick Crume (UIndy), Hunter Haralson (Lindenwood), Travis Holt (St. Cloud State) and Damon Sims (Pitt.-Johnstown).
Neises became a two-time recipient and Bishop, Bye, Kelvington and Ramirez Jr. each became first-time honorees.
In order for a student-athlete to be nominated to the Division II All-Academic Team, he must have a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale, with that benchmark at 3.0 for those who qualified for the 2018 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships. The athlete must also be in at least a second full year at his school and have competed in a minimum of six dates of competition.
