Q&A with South Dakota State wrestling coach Damion Hahn

After 12 years as an assistant coach at Cornell, Damion Hahn was tabbed to replace Chris Bono as the wrestling coach at South Dakota State on April 9.

Bono led the Jackrabbits out of the dregs of Division I into the Big 12 and national relevance before taking over as coach of the Wisconsin Badgers in March. In his final season in Brookings, Bono guided SDSU to a 12th place finish at the Division I nationals, with Seth Gross winning the program’s first-ever national championship at 133 pounds.

So Hahn has big shoes to fill. But the 38-year-old New Jersey native and two-time national champion as a wrestler at Minnesota was considered a shrewd hire in the wrestling community, and he’s anxious to build on the foundation Bono installed. Continue reading at www.argusleader.com
