Augustana Releases 2018-19 Schedule

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Augustana head wrestling coach Jason Reitmeier is excited to announce the schedule for the upcoming 2018-19 wrestling season. The schedule features eight Northern Sun Conference duals, one non-conference dual, five opens, one invitational. The Vikings first home event is set for the second week of January 2019.

The Vikings, who return 19 letter-winners along with four seniors, begin their season with the Daktronics Open, on Nov. 4 in Brookings, SD. The following weekend Augustana will compete in the Dakota Wesleyan Open, Nov. 10 in Mitchell, SD.

In their last meet of November, the Vikings will travel to Moorhead, Minn. Nov. 17 for the Finn Grinaker Open.

stanalogoMoving into December, Augustana wrestling will participate in the Jim Koch Wisconsin Open in Kenosha, WI. Two weeks later they will travel east again for the Midwest Classic Invitational on Dec. 15 in Indianapolis, IN.

The Vikings will end 2018 with the Warrior-Viking Open in Fremont, NE Dec. 29.

Augustana will start its dueling portion of its schedule with their first NSIC matchup on Jan. 3 at Northern State in Aberdeen, SD.

After seven events on the road, the Vikings will open the home portion of their schedule with a home duel versus Dakota Wesleyan. The following week, Jan. 17, the Vikings will welcome in MSU Moorhead to the Elmen Center.

The Vikings will travel to Marshall, Minn. to take on Southwest Minnesota State Jan. 19, and then returns to the Elmen Center Jan. 27 to host the Upper Iowa Peacocks. Later that week Augustana will host Minnesota State on Feb. 1.

The Vikings hit the road for back-to-back meets in North Dakota. They will be in action Feb. 9 at U-Mary followed by another duel Feb. 10 at Minot State.

Augustana then ends the regular season by returning home to host defending National Champions St. Cloud State on Feb. 14 at the Elmen Center.

The postseason for Augustana begins on Feb. 23 at the DII Central regional tournament in Moorhead, Minn. The season will culminate with the NCAA tournament on March 8-9 in Cleveland, Ohio.
