Augustana Travels to Mitchell this Weekend for Dakota Wesleyan Open

The Vikings Will Look to Improve on Their Finish at the Daktronics Open

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.– This weekend, the Augustana wrestling team will hit the road and travel to Mitchell, S.D. for its second meet of the season, the Dakota Wesleyan Open on Saturday, Nov. 10 beginning at 9 a.m.

The DWU Open will have teams competing from Division II, NAIA, and Junior Colleges. NSIC teams competing include St. Cloud State, U-Mary, Southwest Minnesota State, Northern State.

stanalogo Sunday, the Vikings opened the season at the Daktronics Open in Brookings, S.D. and had five individuals place.

Redshirt Senior Clayton Wahlstrom and Redshirt Freshman Daniel Bishop were the top finishers for the Vikings, who both placed fourth at 197 pounds and 184 pounds respectively. Redshirt Junior Bailey Neises (165lbs) and Redshirt Senior Lukas Poloncic (184lbs) finished fifth. At 285 pounds, Redshirt Senior Luke Nohns picked up wins in his first two matches.

Saturday, Augustana also had eight wrestlers compete unattached at the Yellowjacket Open in Rochester, Minn., where three wrestlers placed first. All freshmen, Hunter Burnett took first at 141 pounds, Jacob Tvinnereim won at 157 pounds, and Steven Hajas placed first at 285lbs

Other Vikings who placed Saturday included Jack Huffman and Michael Suda who placed third and fourth respectively at 133 pounds and Kolby Kost who placed fifth at 174 pounds.

The Vikings will continue open schedule Saturday, Nov. 17 when they travel to Moorhead, Minn. for the Fin Grinaker Open. The first chance for Viking fans to catch the team at home is Jan. 9 when they host Dakota Wesleyan at 7 p.m.
