MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State wrestling team will begin the 2018-19 season this Saturday competing at the Dakota Wesleyan Open hosted by Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, S.D.
SMSU 12th year head coach Jesse Nelson expects 23 wrestlers to compete during the open which is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
A pair of Mustangs, senior Cortez Arredondo and junior heavyweight Andrew Petersen, begin the season ranked nationally. Arredondo, an NCAA national qualifier a season ago is ranked seventh at 157 pounds, while Petersen is ranked 11th.
Southwest Minnesota State will open its 2018-19 dual season on Nov. 29 hosting St. Cloud State.
