Concordia bolted to an 8-0 lead, held a lead for the first seven matches against Northern State but then dropped the final three bouts of their season-opening dual meet and lost 23-14. The match started at the 165-lb weight class and the Cobbers led 14-10 after the bout at 133 but then lost three straight matches to lose by nine points.
NICE NOAH: Freshman heavyweight Noah Carter continued his early-collegiate career success as he recorded a 4-2 victory at 285. Carter came away with an escape in the second period and used a 3-point third to win the bout. He was awarded a pair of points when his opponent repeatedly stalled and then earned the bonus point for riding time. Carter is now 4-1 on the season. He opened the year by placing second in the Jamestown Open.
FIRING B-B’S: Concordia’s final win of the night came courtesy of sophomore Benjamin Bogart. Bogart outscored his opponent by at least two points in all three periods and won 9-3 at 133. He had takedowns in the first and third periods and also earned the riding time point. Bogart now leads the team with five wins on the year. He is 5-1 for the season.
