Vikings Add Cole West for 2019

West marks the fourth Viking commit for 2019

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Augustana wrestling head coach Jason Reitmeier has announced the addition of Cole West for the incoming freshman class of 2019. West has signed a National Letter of Intent, indicating his plans to enroll at Augustana and complete on the Vikings wrestling team starting in the winter of 2019.

stanalogo A native of St. Paul, Minnesota, West is currently a senior at Woodbury High School where he competes on the Royals wrestling team. In his first three years at Woodbury, West has made a big impact on the wrestling program. A three-time state qualifier, West began his career at 106 pounds and finished in 6th place at the ‘AAA’ state meet his sophomore season. West moved up to 113 pounds during his junior year, but didn’t miss a beat as he once again finished 6th in the state. Over his three-year career, West has won 90 matches for the Royals and was named a team captain for his junior and senior campaigns.

Reitmeier on West:
“We are excited to welcome Cole and his family to the Augustana Wrestling community. Cole is exactly what we are looking for in a student-athlete. Cole is a good student who takes his academics and future career seriously. He is a great athlete, quick and explosive. Cole adds depth to our lower weights. We are looking forward to working with Cole next season and seeing him challenge our upperclassmen.”

West is undecided on what is major will be at Augustana. In his free time, West enjoys fishing and Kayaking.
