NDSU Receives Votes toward NWCA Division I Coaches Top 25, Three Wrestlers Ranked

MANHEIM, Pa. – North Dakota State received votes toward the National Wrestling Coaches Association Division I Coaches Top 25 poll released Tuesday. NDSU was No. 25 in the WIN Wrestling Magazine dual rankings and No. 36 with 5.5 points in the Tournament Power Index. The Bison were ranked for nine weeks.

North Dakota State (6-5, 2-3 #Big12WR) returns to action against Central Michigan (2-3, 1-1 MAC) at 6 p.m. Central Time Thursday, Jan. 24, in Mount Pleasant. NDSU returns home to host Northern Colorado (2-5, 0-3 #Big12WR) in a Big 12 Conference dual at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, in the Scheels Center.

The Bison had three wrestlers ranked individually by several web sites.

NDSU 125-pounder Brent Fleetwood (17-3 overall, 9-1 duals) was ranked No. 9 by InterMat.com, TrackWrestling.com, FloWrestling.org and TheOpenMat.com, and No. 12 by WIN Magazine. Fleetwood was one of two Bison that went 2-0 with wins against Iowa State and Pitt including his second tech fall of the season.

North Dakota State 133-pounder Cam Sykora (15-5, 7-3) was ranked No. 15 by TheOpenMat.com, No. 16 by WIN Magazine and InterMat.com, No. 17 by TrackWrestling.com, and No. 18 by FloWrestling.org. Sykora entered last week No. 5 in NCAA Division I tech fall.

NDSU 165-pounder Andrew Fogarty (12-3, 9-2) was ranked No. 12 by WIN Magazine and No. 22 by TrackWrestling.com. Fogarty joined Fleetwood by posting a 2-0 record last week including his second major decision of the season.

The first of three NCAA Coaches Ranking and RPI reports is scheduled to be released Jan. 24.
