Manheim, Pa. – The National Wrestling Coaches Association has announced that Jim Makovsky as the Division II Super Region V Regional Coach of the Year winner as selected by his peers in his respective region. This award is presented to the coach that has demonstrated outstanding effort throughout the season in developing and elevating their program on campus and in the community. The award is presented by Defense Soap, the official Hygiene partner of the NWCA.
Makovsky has been coaching at Minnesota State for twenty-six years and led his team to a 9-2 dual meet record this year. Off the mat, Coach Makovsky and his team are very active in their community while helping in the following organization, Student-Athletic Advisory Committee, Mankato Marathon, Kiwanis Holiday Lights, Youth Wrestling Officiating, and Youth Clinics/talks. The team also has a combined team GPA of 3.16.
Each of the six winners now becomes eligible for the NWCA National Coach of the Year award, this will be presented at the Division II Hall of Fame function, Thursday, March 7 prior to the NCAA Division II National Wrestling Championship in Cleveland, Ohio.
