Dodd Ends Career at NCAA Championships

ROANOKE, Va. – Saint John’s University senior Luke Dodd (Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview) ended his collegiate career with a 0-2 record at the 2019 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships on Friday, March 8, in Roanoke, Va.

He suffered a 13-3 loss to the fourth seed, No. 3 Keajion Jennings of Millikin (Ill.), a returning All-American (seventh at 184 pounds in 2018) in the first round. Trailing 6-3 at the start of the third period, Dodd chose down, but Jennings scored a two-point near fall 40 seconds in and added a four-point near fall with eight seconds remaining.

Dodd exited the tournament with a 6-1 loss to No. 8 (D3wrestle.com) Zeckary Lehman of Baldwin Wallace (Ohio) in his consolation match. He chose neutral to start the third period, down 3-1 with 1:34 of riding time against. A national qualifier last year at 184 pounds, Lehman scored a takedown with 1:32 left in the third period and rode out the rest of the match to accrue 3:05 of riding time.
