Osing earns a first round victory to head to quarterfinals; Arredondo falls in heartbreaking loss

INDIANAPOLIS – Southwest Minnesote State’s Griffin Osing earned a 6-5 decision victory over Pittsburg-Johnstown’s Brock Biddle in the first round of the NCAA DII Wrestling Championships to head to the quarterfinals at the Wolstein Center in Cleveland, Ohio.

SMSU’s Cortez Arredondo had a heartbreaking loss after trailing for most of the bout until the final minute of the third period. Arredondo earned a take down with 30 seconds remaining to finish the bout tied 8-8 but Arredondo’s opponent, Skyler Lykins of Colorado School of Mines, earned riding time for a 9-8 victory.

Osing will face Jeff Reimel from Kutztown in next round later this evening and Arredondo will face Baltazar Gonzalez from American Int`l.
