Bison’s Eaton Named to 2019 NWCA Scholar All-American List

MANHEIM, Pa. – North Dakota State University 197-pounder Cordell Eaton was named to the 2019 National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Division I Scholar All-American list released Thursday. Eaton is one of 142 wrestlers nationally to receive the award.

Eaton, a redshirt junior from Long Grove, Iowa, maintains a 3.786 GPA majoring in agricultural and biosystems engineering. He is a three-time selection to the Academic All-Big 12 Wrestling first team.

Eaton finished the 2018-19 season with a 17-10 record including 10-6 in duals. His season was highlighted by the 3-1 sudden victory-1 decision over No. 17-ranked Jacob Seely of Northern Colorado, one of two wins over nationally-ranked wrestlers. He had four pins and four major decisions.

Eaton has a 50-40 career record including 26-26 in duals (9-15 Big 12). He has compiled 14 major decisions, six pins and two tech falls.

North Dakota State compiled a 10-6 record overall in 2018-19 including 5-4 in Big 12 Conference duals. NDSU placed eighth at the 2019 Big 12 Conference tournament. The Bison return NCAA qualifiers 133 Cam Sykora, 165 Andrew Fogarty and 174 Lorenzo De La Riva. Fogarty is a two-time Big 12 runner-up at 165 pounds.
