Simley wrestler Ryan Sokol went 1-1 at the UWW Cadet World Championships on July 29th in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Sokol, who wrestled Freestyle at 65 kg (143.3 lbs.), defeated Ionut Vintila of Moldova 10-0 in the round of 32. He then lost to Davit Patsinashvili of Georgia 12-0 in the Round of 16. Sokol was eliminated from competition when Patsinashvili lost in the semifinals.
Sokol, who won a high school state championship in 2019, will begin his junior year at Simley in the fall.
2019 Waseca state champion Mason Gehloff is scheduled to compete at 45 kg (99.2 lbs.) in Greco-Roman on Saturday, August 3rd.
The 2019 Cadet World Championships runs from July 29th through August 4th.
