Former coach, wife plead guilty to misdemeanor charges

A former Waconia wrestling coach and his wife have both pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges after a state Department of Education investigation into allegations that the coach had improperly provided medication to a member of the wrestling team.

Kelly Wagener – former head wrestling coach at Waconia High School – and his wife, Jonie, both entered guilty pleas to misdemeanor charges of distributing a legend drug. Both Wageners received 1 year of probation, 40 hours of community service and were required to write a letter of apology to both the athlete that was given the medication and the entire wrestling team.
