The Minnesota wrestling program has announced the dates for the squad’s fall coach’s clinic, youth clinic, and open practice. The weekend of fun begins on October 25 with the annual coach’s clinic and continues to Saturday, October 26th when the Gophers host a FREE youth clinic and open practice.
The coach’s clinic on Oct. 25 will feature a trio of great clinicians working with local coaches: Olympic Silver Medalist Brandon Paulson, two-time USA Wrestling World Team Member Pat Smith, and 2017 All-American Sean Russell. The event, held in the new University of Minnesota wrestling room, will be a great opportunity for local coaches to check-out the facilities as well as learn from some of the state’s best grapplers.
The three Gophers grapplers will lead the group through a series of drills and technique sessions to help the coaches improve their own lessons as they help teach a new generation of wrestlers.
The annual event will be held on October 25 beginning at Noon and lasting through the evening.

The Gopher wrestling program will start the day by welcoming young fans for a FREE season-opening clinic on October 26 before the team’s open practice and wrestle-offs.
The clinic, running from 9:00-10:00 am will welcome participants 8th grade or younger to learn from Gophers wrestlers and coaches. Check-in will begin 30 minutes before the clinic.
There are only 100 spots available, so make sure you sign-up today for the FREE clinic! To register, click HERE.
After the conclusion of the youth clinic, the 2019 Gophers will make their public debut at the open practice and wrestle-offs. This will be the community’s first opportunity to see the newest Gophers as well as checking-in on the improvements of last year’s grapplers.
The open practice will showcase the team and their typical warm-up, drills and will include more live wrestling than a day-to-day workout to enable fans to see more of their favorite wrestlers in action. Plus, the event will feature some wrestle-offs as wrestlers in the same weight class battle for the starting spot.
Fans do not need to RSVP to attend this practice and it is FREE to the public. Seating will be on a first-served basis.
Please note that all fans are encouraged to park in the Fourth Street Ramp located at 1625 4th Street SE. In addition, there may be an increase with traffic as Gopher Football is set to take on the Maryland Terrapins that same afternoon at 2:30 pm.
