SJU Drops Season-Opening Dual at Division II Northern State

ABERDEEN, S.D. – Saint John’s wrestling dropped its first dual of the season, 42-3, at Division II Northern State on Thursday, Nov. 7, in Aberdeen, S.D.

The Johnnies forfeited two weights (125 and 141 pounds) and suffered four bonus-point losses on the night.

Sophomore Jacob Scherber (Buffalo, Minn.) won the lone match for SJU, the first bout of the dual, with a 6-3 decision at 174 pounds. The Johnnies’ leader in wins in 2018-19 with 27, Scherber is now 5-1 on the young season.

The Johnnies travel south to face Buena Vista at 7 p.m. next Thursday, Nov. 14, in Storm Lake, Iowa.
