SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Augustana wrestling head coach Jason Reitmeier announced the signing of Nathan Simmonds Tuesday. Simmonds, a senior at Martin County West High School in Truman, Minnesota, will enroll as a freshman at Augustana in the fall of 2020.
“Our coaching staff and athletes are excited to have Nathan join our team next fall,” Reitmeier said. “Nathan is a great athlete who excels in all positions. Nathan has had success in all styles of wrestling and has a passion for the sport. We love his attitude and skillset and look forward to working with him next year.”
Simmonds qualified for state during his sophomore and junior seasons at Martin County West. During his junior season, the team was the section runner-up and during his sophomore season, they were the state runner-up.
Simmonds was born on Oct. 5, 2000, in Spirit Lake, Iowa. He currently resides in Truman, Minnesota, with his parents, Margo and Brannon, and siblings, Torrey, Connor, Paige, Brenden, Alex, and Brynne. Nathan’s hobbies include hiking and being outdoors. After graduating from Martin County West in May of 2020, Nathan wants to major in athletic training and minor in athletic science at Augustana with hopes of getting his masters in athletic training as well.
